SERENGETI SERENA SAFARI LODGE
(Luxury Game Lodge - central Serengeti)

Location

Set high on the saddle of a tree-claded ridge, commanding panoramic views over the endlessly rolling reaches and volcanic reefs of the Serengeti, the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge is the ultimate fusion of traditional African architecture and world-class style.


Lodge and rooms

Drawing its inspiration from the circular 'Rondavel' dwellings and winding paths of a traditional Maasai village, the Lodge features thickly-thatched, stone-built rooms, spaciously set amongst groves of indigenous trees that are cooled by sparkling streams and papyrus-fringed ponds. A delightful water feature runs through the main public areas, creating a natural source of waterborne plants and provides a home to many indigenous species of reptiles, amphibians and birds.

There are a total of 66 rooms in the hotel. Each room is accommodated in a stone-built, traditionally-thatched 'Rondavel', featuring natural stone bathrooms, wildwood balconies, rope-lashed staircases, leopard-print drapes and intricately carved furniture, the overall effect of which is a unique blend of authentic ethnicity and world-class elegance

SERENGETI SOPA LODGE
(Semi luxury Game Lodge - south western Serengeti)
Location

Serengeti Sopa is situated a little way off the beaten track in the vicinity of the Seronera area. Superbly positioned on the Nyarboro Hills in the South West of the Serengeti it has great views of the plains below. Looking out over the seemingly endless Serengeti plains, this hillside lodge is a tranquil oasis. Year round water and the acacia woodland in the area, create an ideal environment for the wide variety of wildlife seen in the vicinity of the lodge.


Lodge and rooms

The lodge was constructed in the intriguing style of a Maasai manyatta, each building with rounded corners & flat roofs. There are 79 luxury suites, each enjoying wall-to-wall carpeting, a private lounge with a mini bar, a bedroom with two queen size beds and ample room for a third, an en-suite bathroom with shaver sockets and a hair dryer, and a private verandah which offers stunning views over the plains.

LOBO WILDLIFE LODGE
(Standard Lodge - northern Serengeti)

Location

Lobo is the main lodge servicing the northern section of the park and is built into a massive kopje, merging completely into the surrounding landscape, which also overlooks one of the most picturesque plains in the Serengeti The lodge offers breathtaking views over the plains and bushy savannah, which is sometimes crossed by herds of buffalo and elephants.


Lodge and rooms

One of the real features of the lodge is this outdoor swimming pool, which was dug into the rock, which looks out over the plains. It has a beautiful lookout post near the swimming pool where you can view the animals grazing in the plains below There are nice paths cut around the main kopje, where hyraxes, pink and purple agama lizards and baboons make interesting watching. The lodge offers 75 rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. There are also a few self containing suite rooms with a kitchen and a lounge.

LOLIONDO CAMP
(Luxury Semi-permanent tented camp - north eastern Serengeti)
Location

Loliondo Camp is situated on the northeastern boundary of the Serengeti and is also close to the southeastern side of the Maasai Mara. It is a small, semi-permanent, luxury tented camp, seasonally erected amongst dramatic granite kopjes, in this vast, lovely and most diverse area, which teems with game The camp is at the base of one of these granite kopjes, which shades the camp from the elements and feeds a local waterhole frequented by game. Resident game is plentiful in the area, drawn mainly during the dry seasons by this nearby waterhole. As this is a completely private area, it is a superb place to really experience Africa - totally removed from any other tourism.


Camps and Tents

The 5 semi-permanent tents are luxuriously, comfortable and spacious, naturally and tastefully furnished with en-suite bathrooms. All tents offer comfortable wooden beds (twin), luggage rack, table, safari chairs, mats and soft furnishings in individual style. Candles and kerosene lanterns, torch, soap, washbasins, towels and jug water for washing (mineral water for teeth brushing/drinking) are also provided. The tents are spread out throughout the kopje area with the dining tent at the base of the main kopje rock.

CAMP SERENGETI SOUTH
(Permanent tented camp - southern Serengeti)

Location

Camp Serengeti South is located among the huge granite boulders of the Mwaki Nyeb Kopjes, in the far southern Serengeti, amid a vast tract of big game country outside the main tourist circuit. It lies about three miles from the boundary between the Maswa Game Reserve and the Serengeti National Park, in a lion-haunted landscape of flat-topped acacias and short grass plains. The Mwaki Kopjes, huge tree-tufted piles of boulders, rise like islands from the sea of grass, affording panoramic views north towards the Gol Mountains and Ngorongoro Crater.


Camp and tents

Camp Serengeti South is a permanent tented camp (10 tents) with amenities consisting of roomy walk-in tents, insect-proofed with mosquito-netted windows and sewn-in floor. Inside, you'll find real twin beds with comfortable foam mattresses, crisp linen and warm blankets. Each tent has bedside lights and a separate bucket for showers with lots of hot water, and a discreet safari toilet with proper toilet seat and soft paper. Your tent also comes replete with table and chairs. Meals are served in well-appointed insect proof dining tents, complete with tables, chairs and attached screen verandah.

KIJERESHI TENTED CAMP
(Permanent tented camp - western Serengeti corridor)

Location

The Kijereshi Tented Camp is situated in the western corridor of the Serengeti and in an area of outstanding scenic beauty. Kijereshi Tented Camp offers a total of 12 large luxury tents with twin beds, writing desk, chairs and full en-suite bathroom facilities. In addition there is 1 presidential suite, 2 VIP rooms and 2 family units. The camp also offers a swimming pool, a good well stocked bar and a video lounge in which wildlife documentaries are a feature of the evenings entertainment. SERENA KIRAWIRA CAMP

Camp and tents

Kirawira camp offers a total of 25 luxury-tented rooms (5 king size and 20 twin bedded tents). The décor is a clever blend of classic opulence, featuring generous four-poster beds, hand-made patchwork quilts, steamer-trunk wardrobes and brass lamps Each guest tent include a personal valet and is a private, enclosed suite with shower facilities and a private terrace. IKOMA SAFARI CAMP
(Permanent tented camp - Ikoma area)

Location

Ikoma Safari Camp is situated five minutes from the Ikoma gate to the Serengeti National Park, in a part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem known as the Ikoma Wildlife Area. This area covers approximately 450 sq km and was established as a buffer zone to the Park itself. The camp was awarded a concession for the area to undertake game viewing drives and walks. In this regard, the camp also works in close collaboration with the surrounding local villages and people. Fort Ikoma, now the Serengeti National Park headquarters, is only 17 km to the west of the camp.


Camp and tents

The Ikoma Safari Camp is small, comfortable and secluded. The camp offers a total of 10 spacious tents, all with twin beds and en-suite bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. Cool bush-thatched roofs, also providing very useful verandas, shelter all the tents. The camps facilities include a typical "Out of Africa" traditional styled grass thatched bar and dining room. Electricity and the hot water are provided by solar power and an inverter for recharging camera batteries is available. In addition to game drives, game viewing walks and night game drives are also undertaken.

KUSINI CAMP
(Permanent tented camp - southern Serengeti)

Location

Perfectly sited in a cluster of kopjes, Kusini is a permanent tented camp blended seamlessly into the delicate environment of the predator-rich plains of the far southern Serengeti. Perhaps surprisingly, Kusini sits exclusively in this remote region of the Serengeti, affording guests the rare opportunity for secluded game drives and walking encounters well away from the main tourist circuits. The surrounding Mwaki Kopjes, huge tree-tufted piles of boulders, rise like islands from the sea of grass, affording panoramic views north towards the Gol Mountains and Ngorongoro Crater.

Secluded amongst the rocky outcrops of this private paradise, Kusini's 9 tents feature en-suite bathrooms with showers and elevated terraces overlooking the Serengeti plains. Each tent has mosquito-netted windows, sewn-in floor and an elevated terrace overlooking the Serengeti plains. Inside the tents, you'll find real twin beds with comfortable foam mattresses, crisp linen and warm blankets. Each tent has bedside lights and a separate bucket for showers with lots of hot water, a discreet safari toilet. a table and two safari chairs. For a classic safari experience, you can go for an elegant candlelit meal and safari tales in the dinning tent, have African sundowners or even enjoy a picturesque banquette on top of a nearby kopje

STANDARD GAME LODGES


SERENGETI SERONERA LODGE
(Standard Game Lodge - central Serengeti)

Location

Built around an enormous rock kopje in the heart of the Serengeti, the Seronera Wildlife Lodge is the ideal place to follow the migration of the wildebeest. Situated on the edge of the Seronera River, this is the perfect starting point for safaris setting out to discover the fabulous wildlife of Africa. The friendly staff, the hyraxes and mongooses that live in and around the lodge and the nice way the public areas are built around the kopje helps to makes a stay at the lodge a pleasant one.


Lodge and rooms

The Lodge offers 75 self-contained guest rooms with en-suite bathrooms, build in two blocks of two storeys. All rooms have a view over the Serengeti Park, and are fitted with mosquito nets. The Pango lounge bar is quite nice and there is also the Ikoma sundowner bar including a very nice bar terrace offering beautiful views out across the plains to the west.

Location

These campsites are all located in the Seronera area in the Serengeti and belong to the government.


Camps and tents

Only tent accommodation is available at this campsite. Toilets with running water and showers are available. No hot water at any of these campsites (arrangements with nearby Lodge can be made to shower at the lodge). Banda's for cooking is available. We supply comfortable 2-person tents with sleeping mattresses. An experienced cook who accompanies you serves delicious meals and prepares lunch boxes.
